Elusive Male Blackcap

Blackcap ....Sylvia atricapilla
Finally I have got a worthwhile photograph of the Fort Copse male Blackcap.
The last few days he has been showing more than his female counterpart and managed to perch long enough for me to do the business.
The male and female are rather shy birds and are easily spooked with the females being a little more tolerant and visible since their arrival in December.

  2. That's a great picture because you dont often see a Blackcap out in the open long enough to be able to get onto it like you have done there.

  4. Very nice photographs on your blog. My first visit. I am not familiar with your birds though they have some features that resemble those that we have.

  9. Hi Abraham.
    Welcome to the blog.
One thing you have over the Pond is some great bird names....some of ours are a little mundane.
    Thanks for the comment.
