Out and About.

Today was the first time for a long while we have ventured out of Town. The reward was three year ticks...Whitethroat and Wheatear at Ninestones and Sandwich Terns at Par.

My visit to a Private Site this morning turned up a pair of G.S.Woodpeckers together, Nuthatch, Coal Tits, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Robin, Pied Wagtail and Corvids overhead. Again no Jay.

Out and About

Yesterday was a mixed bag for Angie and myself.

Close up shots of wildfowl, Cormorants and a Heron in close proximity, Squirrel, an aerial display of two birds of prey ...a Sparrowhawk and Buzzard (we think ) and a very obliging Red Admiral butterfly all at a Swanpool Falmouth.

A few Yellowhammers were also seen around the Tregony area.

Pentire

Another great evening with Derek and his family resulted in another life tick....Manx Shearwater...okay I know it is a popular seabird but it was mine and Angie's first sighting and we eventually saw a hundred or so.
The evening was rounded off with another Nightjar sighting and the call of two males.
Regrettably I failed to glimpse the Nightjar this week and am unable to hear them but I can still say it was an enjoyable occasion.

Cormorant.

An earlier post of mine showing a Cormorant with outstretched wings titled ..*Drying Off*... is a little misleading.
I have recently learnt they do this to aid digestion and not to dry out the wings.
