Welcome Back

A little bit of welcome news.

After a few days wondering if the Goldcrest and Firecrest had succumbed to the Arctic weather conditions the Goldcrest showed her face and crown late this afternoon. Hopefully soon I will be able to report the same for the Firecrest.

  1. They are tough little birds sticking out our winters when most of the other insectivorous birds have gone "sub-Saharan"!

  2. Great news Trevor. Really tough for them at the moment, especially the very small birds. They must wonder what is going on.

  3. Yes agree Stuart. But maybe a little sunshine holiday would do them good.

  4. Hi Keith.

We in Cornwall are wondering what is going on. Saying that...I have seen more Wrens since the start of this year than I did the whole of last year.
I think all of us who have regular small bird visitors to the garden feeder are relieved when they are again sighted after adverse weather conditions.
