Ode to a Skylark. (Percy Bysshe Shelley)

"Hail to thee, blithe spirit -"
Skylark ........Alauda arvensis
Photographed at St Gothian Sands.

  1. You're lucky to have a Skylark. I use to have one, but the Lord of the manor, put up a fence that I can't scale.
Really good image too; sorry for all the whinging.

  2. Lovely shot Trevor.
They always remind me of childhood summers, when I see them climb into the sky singing.

  3. What a really beautiful photo, I often see them singing up high on one of our local walks but have not seen one perched like that.

Of course I also loved the extract from the poem. ;)

  4. Hi Bob. Thanks for the comment. Access is being denied everywhere.

  5. Hello Keith.
Yes I am in total agreement with you. When I was a child we played over *The Banks* which was a small heathland with a couple of small pools. The Skylark was quite abundant then singing overhead.

  6. Hi SSB.

It is unusual to find them perched..I cannot remember it happening before. Shelley is my favorite poet.
