Male Blackcap


The slow shutter speeds were not ideal.....but it is far better than the Goldcrest.

    What is the latest on our wintering Blackcaps? Are they continental birds from N and W or our breeders not going S?
    Not easy to photograph, so should be pleased with result.

    I would imagine our garden wintering Blackcaps originate in Germany and Austria rather than the breeders not returning South. It is a short hop over from Europe and the warmer climate appeals as does having the pick of breeding sites.

    I saw a male black cap on my bird table in buckinghamshire yesterday. The is the first time I have seen one.
